AMS Designs' Origins

After working in the hair replacement industry for 9 years Anthony Santangelo decided it was time to create something different. Anthony and Carmelita founded AMS Designs, Inc. "Appearences Made Special" in 1988. AMS Designs immediately took on a very different look and feel from the traditional hair replacement center. AMS Designs became a place where the focus shifted from selling a hair replacement system to the place that creates an image and style for our clients.

AMS Designs creates a head of hair for each client on an individual basis. We do this with the finest quality human hair available to us along with the most technologically advanced materials in the world. AMS Designs, Inc. is considered an innovator in the industry and has been called upon to assist many of the local, Hollywood and recording who’s who for added hair and image enhancement. We pay close attention to the smallest detail of everything we create to ensure that our clients receive only the best. What does this all mean to you? It means we have the ability to recreate the head of hair you want to suit your personal image, lifestyle and personality. At AMS Designs you can expect a 100% natural looking head of hair, not something that looks like, a hair replacement.

Our philosophy is directed to the real reason our clients came to us. Our clients came to us to get a hairstyle they can feel confident and comfortable with. We turned our attention to styling aspect of what we do. With this came the understanding that our clients need to look and feel good, and AMS Designs is the place where they come to get their hair styled not sold a hair system. Our entire staff is proud of the fact that they are skilled hairstylists that can create the look their client wants with the help of a hair system, instead of the hair replacement system being the focus.

Everyone at AMS Designs, Inc. is certified in the art of hair replacement and are members of both the industry’s trade organizations. Anthony and Carmelita along with the staff at AMS Designs have been asked to help develop the guidelines as to what is true and false in the hair replacement industry. We all participate in the state’s continuing education programs and have been invited to develop and facilitate a number of programs. All the stylists at AMS Designs are involved with Cosmetologists Chicago, the American Cancer Society and the National Alopecia Areata Society.

AMS Designs has been developing great looks for its clients as well as building relationships. We proudly state that since Anthony started working in the hair replacement field and created AMS Design, Inc. not only has the client base grown and diversified, we still have the original group of clients with us today that started back in 1979.
